after staring at the site's colors for a long while, I realized I really wanted higher contrast between the replies and the background, to give them that nice, blocky post-it note look.

the reply boxes are already quite dark, so I decided to lighten the background considerably. it's quite jarring at first, but I think the rest of the elements really pop now, and they help keep the site looking purple. I also darkened the reply drop shadows for the same reason.

let me know what you think!

picrel is the OLD color scheme for comparison
I also just darkened the greentext/subject color a bit. I think all of the text meets WCAG AA now, woohoo!

That's a very noble goal that I'd never even considered.

thanks! given vichan's jankiness there are probably still aspects of the site that aren't very accessible, but I find the WCAG contrast guidelines are really useful as a more objective way of assessing if things will stay comfortably readable on a wide variety of screens and in varying viewing conditions
pretty!! I think it was a good improvement :3

thanks! yeah, it's grown on me more and more after a couple days. my main fear was that on some screens the background might not be discernibly purple, but I don't think that ended up being the case.
The theme reminds me of another board I used to go to like this called comfy.chat if I remember correctly
In my usual posture and distance from the screen it looks very firmly white and I cannot tell the purple in the background. But if I sit further back I can more easily tell that it is purple. Weird. Regardless of that oddity, I think it looks good.

hmm, maybe comfychan.org? I've never visited it before, but it looks like it's down now...

huh, that is odd. I would imagine the more purple elements of the site (replies, links, etc) help bring out the background purple, so maybe backing up and seeing everything together helps? I'm taking a look at Futaba B (blue board theme) now, and on some screens, if you don't have something white to compare it to, the background can look suspiciously white... hm.

well, maybe I'll try giving it a little more purple in a couple days if it's still bugging me. thanks for your feedback!

Nah it wasn't that even though it sounds similar
Board theme was nice
It had an even nicer Nier theme
i am a total straggler that has wandered in but i just wanted to say this theme is so soft and inviting
i really like it , admin

aw, thanks! I'm glad the time I spent tweaking it paid off :)
Nighttime theme when...

it was actually one of the first things I put on my post-launch ideas list back when I was first working on the site! (^^;)
nobody's mentioned it so far, but I imagine there are people who'd like a dark theme for sure.
I'm planning to start working on a full-site migration in the next couple days, so unless that gets scrapped out for some reason, I probably won't bother working on one for this current version of the site. but your interest is noted, and I'll consider working on one as an early addition to the new site :)

thanks for your interest!

Are you keeping the current theme for the next site? Or is that also going for a rehaul?
>>182
these current colors will definitely stick around as the default theme, though I may make slight adjustments while porting it over
you should add a dark theme of sorts. the default theme is cute, but light colors strain the eyes after awhile.
>>192
yup, it's one of the planned additions either as part of or immediately after the new version of the site. sorry for the wait (^^;)
>>193
np, though i hope "new version" doesnt mean a departure from imageboard. they can be tedious, but imageboards are the best form of communication.
>>194
nope, don't worry! it's still going to be an imageboard, just one that's more secure, has nicer UI, some new features, etc.
it won't be a radical departure from what we have now, just a more polished version :)
I am also planning to make an effort to migrate over existing posts when the time comes
